Richard Macklin recently retired from the world’s largest law firm where he was Global Vice Chair, serving on the firm’s global board, and Global Client Partner, responsible for handling the firm’s largest multi-national clients and designing the firm’s market-facing strategy. Prior to this he founded and headed offices in Brussels and Paris and headed the firm’s M&A division.
Richard is now chair of the advisory board of Meyler Campbell, the renowned business coaching school founded and led by Anne Scoular, author of The FT Guide to Business Coaching. He graduated from the school in 2017, since then he has been coaching leaders in multi-nationals and the legal industry, together with a portfolio of pro bono clients ranging from the NHS to the 30% club, promoting women in FTSE 100 boardrooms.
He is a Samaritan and also sits on the advisory board of The Big Change, a Branson family charity focussed on helping young people thrive regardless of their background or academic performance.
His speaking and teaching experience includes:
- influencing audiences (often of thousands globally) on market positioning
- coaching rooms of upcoming and seasoned leaders in strategy, leadership and sales culture
- teaching and participating on panels at, for example, Imperial College, King’s College London, the International Bar Association and, shortly, Cornell University
Most recently, he has delivered a series of online lectures during Covid-19, in tandem with Jan Muhlfeit, former Chairman of Microsoft Europe and author of The Positive Leader on topics ranging from Post-Covid Working to Progressing from Motivational Leadership and Managing Your Energy instead of Your Time.
