Gavin Flynn most recently held the role of Senior Bursar of Downing College, Cambridge from September 2020. Prior to this, Gavin worked in consulting (1994-1998), for a tech start-up (1999-2001), and from 2001-2019 was an executive at Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) in various senior roles including Senior Vice President Investor Relations (voted best IR professional in Europe) and SVP Commercial Partnerships (where he doubled revenue in a 3 year period to $200m), finishing his career as SVP Strategy & Transformation, working closely with the Executive Committee to set strategy, restructure the company and save $125m of costs.
After leaving IHG in 2019, Gavin moved into the education sector working as a non-executive at Multi-Academy Trusts, and as the Chair of Herts for Learning, the UK’s largest School Company, providing products and services to schools in Hertfordshire. He has lectured for many years in hotel management and Behavioural Science at EHL (Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland, the “world’s best hotel management school”.
Gavin studied Chemistry at St Catherine’s, Oxford (1990-94), has an MBA from INSEAD (1999) and an MSc in Behavioural Science from the London Schol of Economics (2018).
